Terms of use
These terms cover the Basalt app and the Basalt+ subscription. By installing the app, you accept them.

1. Publisher
The Basalt app and getbasalt.app are published by Thomas Boda, a sole trader (entrepreneur individuel) registered in France under company number (SIREN) 848 848 479, whose registered office is at 66 avenue des Champs-Élysées, 75008 Paris, France. 2. What Basalt is — and is not
Basalt supports you through tobacco cessation. It counts the days, stages your progress, offers guided breathing during a craving, and estimates figures — money saved, cigarettes not smoked, recovery milestones — from what you declare.
Basalt is not a medical device. It diagnoses nothing, prescribes nothing, and replaces neither a doctor, nor a cessation specialist, nor a treatment. The recovery markers shown in the app draw on public sources (World Health Organization, Tabac info service) and are orders of magnitude, not individual promises. If you have any doubt about your health, talk to a professional. In France, Tabac info service answers on 39 89.
The figures shown are estimates computed from your own declarations. They are worth what your declaration is worth; every measure in the app can show its arithmetic and its margin.
3. Access and account
Basalt works without an account. You alone hold the data stored on your device. Losing the device, resetting it, or deleting the app permanently destroys that data, and we cannot restore it.
4. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app on devices you own, for strictly personal purposes. You may not decompile, modify or redistribute the app, nor extract elements from it for reuse elsewhere.
5. Basalt+ — the subscription
What stays free
The counter and its progress, the Stone and its five tiers, SOS and its craving log, the health milestones and the Treasure are free and will remain so. Nothing that helps you stop smoking is conditioned on a payment.
What the subscription opens
Basalt+ gives access to “Your assessment”: your dependence index and its reading, your smoking past in numbers, and actual against projected. Other features may be added; they are announced only once available.
Plans, term, renewal
Basalt+ comes in three forms: a monthly subscription, a yearly subscription, and a one-off lifetime purchase, which is not a subscription and does not renew. Both subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal. The exact amount, in your currency, is shown in the app before any commitment.
A free trial may be offered on the yearly subscription. It is granted by Apple according to your eligibility: the app announces a trial only when Apple confirms it for your account. At the end of the trial the subscription continues at the displayed price unless cancelled beforehand.
Payment, cancellation, refunds
Payment is charged by Apple to your App Store account on confirmation of purchase. Managing and cancelling the subscription is done in your Apple account settings, not in the app and not with us. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Refund requests are handled by Apple under its own terms. Under Article L. 221-28 of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content supplied immediately with your express agreement; App Store terms also apply.
6. Your commitments
You agree to use the app lawfully and not to attempt to circumvent its purchase mechanisms. The app relies on what you declare: it does not monitor you and verifies nothing. The accuracy of what it shows therefore depends on the accuracy of your declarations.
7. Intellectual property
The Basalt name, the logotype, the five Stones, the texts, the interface and all graphic elements are protected. Any reproduction outside the licence above is prohibited, subject to the press uses described on the Press page.
8. Availability and changes
We may change the app, fix it, or withdraw features. If a feature included in Basalt+ were withdrawn durably, you could cancel your subscription from your Apple account. No uninterrupted availability is guaranteed.
9. Liability
Basalt is provided as is. We do not guarantee that you will stop smoking, which depends on you and on many other factors. We cannot be held liable for health decisions taken on the basis of the estimates displayed, nor for the loss of local data. Nothing here removes the mandatory legal guarantees you have as a consumer.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In case of a dispute, you may use a consumer mediator free of charge: [à compléter : mediator to be designated]. The European online dispute resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Failing agreement, the French courts have jurisdiction.
